How canI get my hair done without getting a relaxer? I am getting married so I need a formal hairsty

I have been natural for almost 10 years, when it is pressed it falls halfway past my back. I do not want braids. I was thinking flat twists would be nice but I cant find any good website pictures. oh and my hair is very thick but it is also softer hair so it is a little easier to manage than kinky hair.

I personally don't think twists are formal. If your hair is easy to manage as you say then your hairstylist should be able to flat iron your hair and do a nice up do... Like a bun is always classic just add some rhinestone hair pins for a lil bedazzle. Or cluster curls would be pretty with some curls hangin in the front and back. I say go UP for a wedding. No twists or braids, thats more for a vacation do so you dont have to worry about your hair getting messed up.

If you go to a beauty supply store (like Sally's), they have a wide variety of hair products. There's a brand called Ion and they have a FABULOUS hair straightening mist, but be careful not to use too much -- else it'll make your hair look like you've not bathed for days! After you've sprayed it on, you can use a wide (2-3") flat iron, and it'll get your hair as smooth as silk.

Also, shoppes like this tend to have magazines with hair styles in them, formal or otherwise. And the clerks tend to be hair stylists anyway.

I think if you have natural hair twists would be nice..especially done into an updo...u may be able to try 2-stranded twists...depending on ur hair type...if u 2-strand twist it u wet it down and use gel or setting lotion..sit under the dryer for 1-2 hours and then take them a loose and either leaving the front in and leaving the back out or taking it all out...this will give u a wavy curl...depending on ur hair type and hair lenth it may look too wild for a wedding..like if u have mixed type hair it will do well for a wedding..But either way 2-strand twists are nice for an everyday look also..they can be left twisted or pulled apart.or both! but U may just wanna do the flat twists in an updo..i was just throwing out suggestions! =0)
