I have several daughters, and here's what I think. Hair should reflect the clothing, so a formal dress should have a look that is different than your everyday look just as the formal attire is different than you everyday clothing. If you cannot afford a hair salon, a friend can pull you hair into a high pony tail and then put small rollers into it to give it ringlets or wash, dry and then curl it with large rollers to give it lots of bounce. teens these days know a lot of stuff but many of them have no style and no sense of what is "right" looking and what is not.
