Opinions Please!?

I am wearing a dress to an awards show/banquet that I bought online...I had never heard of the name of the color they used, and the online swatch looked like a very dark grey. I got it today and it is a dark *brown*. Here is my question: I normally NEVER wear brown clothes (I have very fair skin with auburn hair and hazel eyes). I am:

a) concerned about wearing brown with my skin tone

B) concerned that I can't dress up the color brown well enough to wear it to that event (the event isn't formal, I'd say it was more of a relaxed semi-formal) and

c) I am wondering what color of shoes/handbag to wear.

I like black, I PREFER black, I have a lovely pair of black pumps I could wear with this dress, however, will black be ok to accessorize in?

Although I like this dress, I may just go out and buy something different, in a color I feel more comfortable in (such as dark grey or black). I am just not sure about wearing brown to something that is nicer than casual attire.

a) brown is a warm colour i'm sure it will look fine with your skin, it might feel different to you because you aren't used to wearing that colour but i'm sure it will be very pretty and play up your eyes

b) you can dress up any colour! wear gold or silve jewelry either with brown but i think gold makes the colour seem warm still.

c) for shoes i'm not sure what to tell you about colour, brown shoes would be boring and black shoes wouldn't be right either so i'm not really sure... maybe a metalic brownish gold colour would work.

Go for red girl. Brown is such a drab colour and if you're going to wear your black pumps red is a must esp. with your fair skin.

brown is the new black, and it is perfectly acceptable to wear brown to this kind of occasion. I think that your skin tone and eyes will match fine with the dress. For shoes and a purse i would decide if you want something that will stand out or not. if you do, go with a pink or teal shoe and matching bag. if not i would suggest a neutral color shoe. don't be afraid to get some bold (but tasteful) jewelry as well.

Nehh. Black and brown don't look so great together in my opinion. You could dress up a dark brown with cream/beige colored shoes and bag, or go for a metallic gold if that's your style.

By the way, fair skin/auburn hair and a dark brown dress sounds like it would work nicely together!

i don't know whether the dress will suit you but black and brown do not go well together. almost any other colour will go with brown
