i would have to say that the navy blue and burgundywould be the best choices for you. the dark colors will help to enphasize your eyes and hair. also, use i black eyeliner on your bottom line, your upper line, and on the upper part of your tear duct. this will jelp your eyes seem brighter and stand out. one more added touch would be to use a light blue/ hazel/ smokey w/minor shimmer and apply it to your eye lid, lining the bottomof your lower lid, and lightly around your tear ducy area with a thin line. then add a extra volumizing non-clumping mascara. youll be the celebrity of the dance..... GOOD LUCK!!!!

At 13 for a formal that dress seems really fancy, to be honest you might look too dressed up....like your going to prom.
But I think most of those colors would look nice on you, the blue would bring out your eyes.
Personally, I think the burgundy is just a beautiful color, though the whole dress it cute!

I would definitely go ahead of time and have them fix it to make sure you are going to like it. Some places will do this either for free or really cheap.
As far as price, it depends on where you live. In a rural area, you should be able to get it done for 25-50 dollars (depending on the shop of course). I have no idea what it would cost in a more urban area.
It'll cost about $80 to get your hair done.
Keep in mind that if your hair is naturally straight or just slightly wavy, it might not hold a curl very well. You'd either have to use a LOT of hairspray/ other styling products or wear it straight.
If you have an updo in mind, it'll be awkward to do it yourself and you might not get the look you want and be frustrated. If you're going to keep your hair loose, I would say definitely do it yourself. Buy a curling iron if you don't already have one. You'll save a lot of money (you probably already spent some on your dress)

One brand of foundation I totally love is - Sheer Cover. In high school and college I used a lot of different "drugstore" and "department store" make up. They left my face either oily, with pimples or worst with streaks (it's hard to blend some of that make up)....Sheer cover is so quick and easy to use... there's also a bronzing powder that you can use as a blush, eyeshadow, lip cover. Usually one buys the makeup over the television or www but I've seen it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I totally love it and will be using it on my wedding day this July.
One drugstore brand that I like is Physician Formula mineral make up which you can get pretty much anywhere. Unless you want a dramatic look you can keep your make up pretty sheer... you can get a brown eyeliner, brownish/gold eye shadow... and a pale blush. I'd go with lip liner -- pat your lips with power, then cover them with a suitable lip line and add a simmering lip gloss. Usually doing this will allow the lip cover to last longer so you won't be constantly touching it up.

I would use a cream eye shadow all over and gold on your eye lid. I would also use the gold as a eyeliner on bottom of eye for a 'smokey' effect.....
I think grey eyeshadow is the way to go as it would really suit the dress.

Usually for formal events, I get my hair done in a french twist. It looks really classy and dressy. You could get rhinestones in your hair if you wanted to, to match jewlery. If you go to a hairdresser, they can help you come up with ideas that will look best for your face and hair type. You can also do a practice hair with her to make sure you like it. Hope this helps. Here's a great secret CONSIGNMENT AND THRIFT stores.
You might be able to afford two dresses and two wraps, one for the Ritz and one for the formal dance at the end of the school year. Don't turn up your nose. There's a great supply of formal and party wear [and wedding dresses too] out there that has been worn only once or twice before it went to the consignment or thrift shop. You will be amazed. It's easy to find because every store sets these types of dresses off in a section by themselves so it takes less than 5 minutes to scan and only a couple more to try them on. You can do alot of stores that way. If there is a small spot on it sometimes you can put a beautiful sparkly pin of some type over it if there is a spot in the 'right' place. And I notice that most of the great dresses are in sizes way to small for me, about right for you I expect. And the price will be 75% cheaper, which will leave you lots to spend on shoes and those extra glitter and scented items to sparkle up your outfit. Have fun!! Then you can give them back when you've finished with them, so someone else can have as much fun finding and wearing the clothes as you did!! Just a suggestion. And PS - try on everything you like unless you can see it's way too big, because you might be surprised by what you think isn't your size or style but it fits you... :)

i think that a little cocktail dress might be cute, depending one your face shape, and hair + eye color, you might choose a different color. if you have nice curves to your body, you might either do a tighter dress, or a skirt and tanktop.
I think tat a nice dress would do. Dont wear one with sparkles, and knea length one would be fine. A Summery dress would look nice. You should look online for some and see what style you like best and stick with that type of dress.

You've come to the right person! I think you would look good with your hair down or use a pretty clip and take a little hair from the center of your head. Its hard to explain. But otherwise, you could like curl your hair like half way up, It would only look nice if the curls were big, not the small ones. Ok for make up, you should wear light brown eye shadow. It would look nice if you do it lighter to dark. The dark looks nice near the part of the eye where you put eyeliner. Then volumeize your eyelashes and put on a slight pink blush. I have several daughters, and here's what I think. Hair should reflect the clothing, so a formal dress should have a look that is different than your everyday look just as the formal attire is different than you everyday clothing. If you cannot afford a hair salon, a friend can pull you hair into a high pony tail and then put small rollers into it to give it ringlets or wash, dry and then curl it with large rollers to give it lots of bounce. teens these days know a lot of stuff but many of them have no style and no sense of what is "right" looking and what is not.

If you choose to go this route, you need to get some experience under your belt, but odds are you would be better off using the time to earn some money to get them done at a salon.
They have Acrylic kits at Sally Beauty supply that come with video tape instructions on how to apply. If you and 4 friends each pitch in, it should cost about $10 each. Then you will each have to practice applying, and then filing. Nobody does a great job their first time.
Also, these acrylics are not the best so don't do them 2 weeks before the event and expect them to all be there.

this is a look that is half up half down with curly hair on the part of your hair that is let down .
follow these steps:
STEP 1 : Blow dry 4 inch sections of your hair at a time on medium heat . Hold the dryer 3 inches from your hair , and use a round brush to add volume to your roots.
STEP 2 : This step is lifting your hair . Hold a 4 inch section of hair at your crown above your head and tease it with fine toothed comb , to avoid damage dont comb back your hair more than 4 times.
STEP 3 : this step is to secure. smooth back the teased section of your hair and secure your crown with an elastic that matches your hair color . wrap the elastic 3 times to secure it.

So, i got this dress for my school's caronation ball the other day. the dance is supposed to be semi-formal. the only thing they told us along with that is "no sneakers, no jeans."
So, i got this black sleeveless sweater dress that has a kind of low V-neck and it's just above the knee and has like 4 buttons on the right side of the dress. the bottom is kind of like a pencil skirt. anyways, i'm going to pair it with light bronze metallic closed toe mary jane heels (they're like almost 3-4 inches high) and a bangle bracelet that matches the shoes. and probably a gold and bronze necklace. It's a pretty dress. I think it's formal enough. Since you're short, I think a shorter dress will look better on you because it can make you look taller. Personally I think if you can find heels that are the same color as your dress, it would look best. It may be hard to find though. Or you could maybe find a shoe that matches everything. I think a little bit of gold jewelry would look good with the green dress. Some dangly earrings and a simple necklace will do. I don't know what you look like, so it's kinda hard to say what you should do with your hair. Anyway, have fun at your winter formal!

I am having the worst time trying to curl my hair. I have a short bob and would like to wear my hair curly for a formal dinner this weekend. Any tips?
Most important thing is for your hair to not be clean (seriously!) Don't wash it the day of the dinner.
If you have some hot rollers (?) and if your hair is long enough, put it up in rollers first. That will give it lots of body and volume at the roots. Take the rollers out after they're cool, and spray each section (just the roots!) with some hairspray ... let it dry.
Break it up with your hands. You might like it at this point ... if so, just pick apart the curls and spray it lightly. If you want it curlier, get out the curling iron and curl selected strands ... NOT the whole thing! Make sure you let the curls cool completely before you touch them (do your makeup in the meantime, maybe?) Alternate the direction of the curls ... some forward, some back, some under, some up ... then just play with it a bit till you like the look. Use a pick or your fingers to separate, not a brush ... unless you want frizz!

you could use a good hair straightener ( the GHD straighteners are really good for curling ) or you could use a curling wand they're great and heaps easy to use.
too keep curls in place spray with hair spray or put mouse through your hair before you curl it.

Hah. Use a LITTLE mousse while its wet so it can mold better, and preconditioning the hair so it is flexible. Id suggest a ceramic curler. they're slightly more costly (or very expensive, depends on the kind you want) but that usually works for any hair type. Personally I think sephoras hair products are good but usually a bit on the high end. You can usually find a decent ceramic curler at general beauty stores or I think even wal mart or target may have them.

A nice pin-striped pant suit is perfect. Wear a solid colored (either light blue or green) button up shirt. Wear closed toed dress shoes and either wear very little accessories or none at all. Pearl earrings would look very professional. You can either wear your hair in a low bun with a side part or half-up-half down with a nice clip. Keep makeup and perfume to a minimum. I suggested a nice colored (blues, greens, yellows) button up short sleeve blouse. Since you are wearing a black pinstripe suit. A nice closed toe conservative round toe pump. Nothing so high that you can't walk comfortably in. For you hair pull it back out of your face. It makes for a better first impression. Don't go heavy on make up or perfume. Also go simple with the jewelry, a dainty watch and stud earrings. For a purse carry a simple structured shoulder bag (leave the glitz and the glam for going out). I have been a health care recruiter for 13 yrs and hope my advice helps a little bit. Pant suit is great, small earrings, subtle make up, hair neat not up if you don't want it just make sure it isn't in your face, a white shirt is perfect or even a pastel color of your liking. If the suit has a full sleeved jacket a tank top is fine as long as you don't take the jacket off. Shoes, I wouldn't go any higher than a 2 1/2 inch heel and go basic. Jewelry, keep it subtle. The whole idea is to have your personality and skills be the focus not your wardrobe and makeup.

Are the stripes white? If so a white 3/4 or t-shirt that buttons/zips up would look very smart. For shoes wear sensible ones, either black school shoes or black ballet flats would look nice. For accessories, make them simple. Such as a simple chain and pendant for a necklace and 2 or 3 bangles. BUT makes sure they're the same colour (eg;bothe silver or both gold). Because you are working at a health cae facility (well hoping to) i advise that you wear your hair up in a pony tail or bun so that it is out of the way. If you can't pull your hair up into either of hose because it is to short then just leave it out and use a nice headband to keep it out o your face. And try not to wear to much make up, just keep it simple with natural colours.

For hair that length you should just wear it curly.. maybe use a curling iron right after getting out of the shower and drying it.. or keep it straight and part it to the side!

I love her hair! I like it cause its still casual enough to wear everyday or to school(im 16). Anyway, i dont know how to make it look like that! My hair is about the same color as hers and about the same length, maybe a couple inches shorter. What makes it tough though, is that my hair is very thin, straight, flat, limp etc. Everyday i just go over it with a straightner to make it look sleeker but im tired of that boring look.
So for wavy hair (trying to achieve whats in the pic) I have tried a few things and they havent worked. I've tried scrunching it but my hair wont hold the scrunch unless i put a lot of product in it and then it looks too dark and crunchy. Curling irons make my hair look way to formal. Braiding it just looks stupid and messy. Maybe one of these techniques is good but im doing it wrong. If you have an idea i'd love lots of details on how to do it! Thank you.

I have that haircut...sorta, and to get my hair wavy, I put it in a bun while it's still wet and let it set for awhile.....then I take it out and it's all wavy and pretty! You may want to use a leave in conditioner or shine serum or mousse(not too much) to keep the wave in your hair, but hopefully that will work for you! Good luck!:-)

It sounds like your describing me...lol.....were a mini cocktail dress above the knee. With stilletos, and updo if your hair is long enough. Colors such as baby blue or tickle me pink. Stay away from darks and oranges. Keep it soft

i am tan, light brown hair, but i have blue eyes and my 8th grade formal dress was cream with accents of lace, short sleeved and ended just at the knee...and the nice thing was i could wear it to 9th grade homecoming in the fall. Remember that you want to look classy not trashy.
For your skin tone, I suggest a light peachy- gold color. It will make your skin look glow-y (if there is such a word.) I suggest a silky material, spaghetti (well..it depends on your school dress code. My school doesn't allow spaghetti straps) and either ankle length of just below the knee. I just got the dance form today. I think all of those would look great, but LONG not short. You wouldn't suit short hair.

I like your first style that you have..Out of the three "styles " you like...I like the last two..those Rock..awesome and really make your beautiful face and eyes stand out, and the last two..look very similar, just different hair colors..but similar "cuts"..thats awesome for a change..You enjoy..because when it comes to the "ultimate decision", that is yours....lol....TC/ God Bless you..;)
Are those too close together? Because my hair is pink, but it is completely faded out. I want to dye it today for an event, and then redye it pink again on the 24th for a formal event that I have to look nice for.

yeah it's too close together...you need to give your hair time to regain it's strength. after you dye your hair, sometimes depending on what you use, your hair is brittle. it's your hair, do what you want but i personally don't think it is a good idea.
i usually wait about 2 months before doing mine again. my stylist tells me that's best. too often will fry your hair.
I'm not familiar with colour rays. Are you sure it has bleach in it? If it doesn't go ahead %26amp; color it as often as needed. I have some pink %26amp; purple in my hair %26amp; it needs to be retouched about every week.
If it's deposit only color like manic panic, or I use paul mitchell inkworks it won't hurt your hair.

Question 1: I think undies are just like a comfy thing to wear around the house, they are also something to wear to sleep.
Question 2: Yes you can change their hairdo. You must buy a mirror that you can put over a sink. Then click on it, and click change appearance. There you can change hair, hair color, make up, and face paint.

I am wearing a dress to an awards show/banquet that I bought online...I had never heard of the name of the color they used, and the online swatch looked like a very dark grey. I got it today and it is a dark *brown*. Here is my question: I normally NEVER wear brown clothes (I have very fair skin with auburn hair and hazel eyes). I am:
a) concerned about wearing brown with my skin tone
B) concerned that I can't dress up the color brown well enough to wear it to that event (the event isn't formal, I'd say it was more of a relaxed semi-formal) and
c) I am wondering what color of shoes/handbag to wear.
I like black, I PREFER black, I have a lovely pair of black pumps I could wear with this dress, however, will black be ok to accessorize in?
Although I like this dress, I may just go out and buy something different, in a color I feel more comfortable in (such as dark grey or black). I am just not sure about wearing brown to something that is nicer than casual attire.
a) brown is a warm colour i'm sure it will look fine with your skin, it might feel different to you because you aren't used to wearing that colour but i'm sure it will be very pretty and play up your eyes
b) you can dress up any colour! wear gold or silve jewelry either with brown but i think gold makes the colour seem warm still.
c) for shoes i'm not sure what to tell you about colour, brown shoes would be boring and black shoes wouldn't be right either so i'm not really sure... maybe a metalic brownish gold colour would work.

Go for red girl. Brown is such a drab colour and if you're going to wear your black pumps red is a must esp. with your fair skin.
brown is the new black, and it is perfectly acceptable to wear brown to this kind of occasion. I think that your skin tone and eyes will match fine with the dress. For shoes and a purse i would decide if you want something that will stand out or not. if you do, go with a pink or teal shoe and matching bag. if not i would suggest a neutral color shoe. don't be afraid to get some bold (but tasteful) jewelry as well.

Nehh. Black and brown don't look so great together in my opinion. You could dress up a dark brown with cream/beige colored shoes and bag, or go for a metallic gold if that's your style.
By the way, fair skin/auburn hair and a dark brown dress sounds like it would work nicely together!
i don't know whether the dress will suit you but black and brown do not go well together. almost any other colour will go with brown

A dressy top and a nice pair of jeans with some cute shoes!!No tennis shoes or heels!! You should wear something comfortable like flats, stylish yet comfortable!!! Also you don't want too flashy so avoid sequins!! Fall colors like Burgundy, rust, wine, camel, and dark chocolate brown are very stylish right now. However the two hot colors for fall are purple and green. The green is a continuation of the summer, but warmed up a bit with burnt olives, celeries, and just a darker green. The trend color of the season is purple and the warmer the purple the better. :-) :-)

I am planning on wearing something comfortable and cute tomorrow. For me that will probably be some jeans, ballet flats, and a trendy shirt. Since I want to look nice but will also be eating all day, I am going to wear my hair down but I will probably pin my sidebangs back into a poof. Try wearing a fun color that your family will notice. When I wear this bright orange sweater of mine, everybody always tells me how much they like it. Hope I helped!

Just put your hair in a ponytail, because it looks like you did something to it even though it's not fancy. I always do that. Wear a sweater with one of those cool lace at the bottom camis from hollister/abercrombie.
